10 Places for Singles to Live

Being single is awesome. You are free to do whatever you want, whenever you want, without regard for anyone else's schedule. But let's face it: sometimes, being single can be lonely.

Depending on where you stay, there may be few other singles around, and if there are any singles around, they might not be looking for someone just like them (you).

This is why it's essential to consider moving somewhere with plenty of people like yourself. Everyone is looking for their ideal city to live right? Where they could enjoy an inviting atmosphere, a family-friendly lifestyle, and, most importantly, friendly people.

Whether you're a young professional, a newly divorced person, or just someone who enjoys living alone, you might be ready to move.

And if so, you might be looking for places where other people like you are in your age group and at your stage in life.

Well, look no further. I've rounded up some of the best cities for singles to live, hang out and thrive.

10. New York City, New York

You can live your best life in New York City. The city is full of things to do at night, it's diverse and has a lot of people from different backgrounds, and it's easy to get around.

You'll have no problem finding a job here. New York City is a hub for finance, advertising, and other industries that need people who love what they do.

And if you like culture, you'll find plenty of that here too! There are galore museums (including the Metropolitan Museum of Art), theatres (like Broadway), art galleries, and so on.

The nightlife scene is also thriving. There are numerous bars and clubs to choose from, with something for every taste. In addition to its active nightlife scene, New York City has a diverse population which means you will find other single people looking for love just like you.

You can meet singles at salsa classes or speed dating events where participants rotate from partner to partner throughout the evening until they find someone they like enough to ask on a date.

Once you've found someone who catches your eye, then it's time for dinner! If it doesn't work out, go back home alone, but remember that this isn't the end of the world because there are plenty more fish in the sea!

9. Boston, Massachusetts

Boston is an excellent place for young singles. According to Census data, it has a high percentage of college graduates, and it's one of the most educated cities in the U.S.

It has a large population of young people, and more than half of Boston's residents are unmarried. Boston has everything you need if you're looking for a bustling city with plenty of cultural activities and social events.

The city hosts numerous festivals throughout the year that celebrate everything from music (the Jazz Festival) to food (the Italian Food Festival) to dance (the Folk Dance Festival).

Boston is also home to some great universities: Harvard University and MIT are both near Boston Common. This makes it easy for students to get around town without worrying about traffic or parking.

The city also has a vibrant arts scene with more than 200 art galleries and museums, including the Institute of Contemporary Art (ICA), which has free admission to its permanent collection.

The city's location on the North Atlantic coast means it has mild winters but hot summers. While the Boston area isn't known for its beaches, it does have many parks and green spaces where you can enjoy some sunshine.

8. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The City of Brotherly Love is among the most popular places to live for young people who want to be close to all the action. It's a terrific destination for singles to visit, but there are numerous reasons why it's also a great place to live.

It's affordable. Philadelphia has one of the best housing markets in America. The average home price is $160,000, and the median rent is only $1,200 per month.

There are plenty of jobs, and Philadelphia has an unemployment rate of 4%, which is much lower than the national average of 6%. And because there are so many jobs available, there are plenty of opportunities for upward mobility within companies.

The city has plenty of entertainment options. From sports teams like the Eagles and 76ers and concert venues like The Fillmore Philadelphia and The Electric Factory, there's always something fun going on in Philly every night.

Philadelphia is also a very diverse city, so you can find people of all backgrounds and cultures to connect with.

7. Washington, D.C.

You've already heard of Washington, D.C., but maybe you must figure out what to expect.

Well, it's a very diverse city, with people from all over the world coming through its borders daily.

It has some great nightlife options (including some cool dive bars), and there are plenty of opportunities to meet new people, even if you do not have much in common at first glance!

But if you're looking for romance and companionship, Washington can deliver on that front too. The city is known for being pretty progressive regarding LGBTQ rights and relationships.

If you want to find work in D.C., many opportunities are available, especially if your field has anything to do with politics or government! One thing I love about this city is how easy it is to get around, whether by bus or subway (or even walking!). Getting around town will never be stressful here!

And while there are undoubtedly many museums and galleries where you can spend hours exploring art history, I recommend taking advantage of all those free hours by going out dancing at one of your favourite clubs instead!

6. Miami, Florida

Miami is one of America's most popular cities to reside in. It's a great place for singles because there are so many places to go out and meet people.

If you want to live in a place that has excellent weather, a lot to do and meet people, good food, and an active nightlife scene, but also has the opportunity for top-notch job opportunities (if you're into that sort of thing), then Miami could be your ideal spot.

Miami is the most populous city in the southeastern United States. A unique blend of Latin, Caribbean, and Cuban culture makes Miami an exciting place to live.

The neighborhoods have some of the best public transportation services in the country and are within walking distance from downtown. You can live on one side of town one weekend and explore another side of the city another weekend without breaking a sweat or spending too much money on gas.

The city is also home to many celebrities who can be spotted walking around South Beach or attending events at the many clubs that line Lincoln Road.

The weather in Miami is warm year-round, which makes it an ideal location for people who want to enjoy warm weather even during the winter months. The average annual temperature is 73 degrees Fahrenheit (23 degrees Celsius). This makes it one of the mildest climates in the United States, along with San Diego and Honolulu.

Miami is also one of the most diverse cities in the country, with over 80% of residents speaking a language other than English at home (compared to a national average of just 16%). This gives you access to an incredible number of food options — traditional American fare and Cuban, Puerto Rican, Haitian and Brazilian cuisine. It's also one of America's top five cities for nightlife, according to TripAdvisor reviewers.

5. Austin, Texas

Austin, Texas, is a great place to live.

The city has a vibrant music scene and offers plenty of opportunities to enjoy the outdoors. There are also plenty of jobs here, thanks partly to its booming economy.

The capital of Texas, Austin, is known for its laid-back lifestyle and good quality of life. It has a strong economy with many jobs available for people who want to work locally or need temporary work before moving on elsewhere.

As an added bonus, Austin's cost of living is low compared with other major cities like Los Angeles or New York City, which means more money is left over after bills are paid!

It's also known for being one of the most single-friendly cities in America. Though that isn't exactly surprising considering the city has been ranked as one of the best places to live by several publications on multiple occasions.

Austin has an active nightlife scene as well as great music venues and festivals all throughout the year. This makes it easy for singles to find something fun to do when they want some alone time with friends or need some inspiration for their next date night idea.

If you're seeking for a place where you can enjoy outdoor activities while meeting new people, then Austin might be right up your alley!

4. Seattle, Washington

The Emerald City is a great place for singles to live.

The music scene is vibrant and eclectic, there are plenty of amazing restaurants, and the coffee is fantastic. If you're looking for a big city with a small-town feel, this might be the place for you.

Seattle has some of the best hiking and biking trails in the country — the mountains surrounding Seattle offer an endless amount of options. Seattle is also a great place for foodies and coffee lovers. You can find excellent restaurants and cafes nearly everywhere in the city.

If you're looking for something more casual, check out one of the many food trucks that line downtown streets on weekends or head to Capitol Hill for a variety of fantastic bars and restaurants that offer cheap eats and drinks.

The city offers plenty of opportunity to get involved in community events such as festivals, concerts and sporting events. In fact, Seattle has been named one of America's top cities to watch sports by Sports Illustrated magazine because it has several professional teams as well as numerous amateur teams that play every weekend during both spring and fall seasons.

3. San Francisco, California

San Francisco is a city full of young people. The median age in the city is 38.3, compared to 41 for the United States as a whole. It's not surprising that this city has a high concentration of singles, with just under half of the population being single.

There are plenty of places where singles can mingle in San Francisco, including bars and restaurants. One of the most popular restaurants is Foreign Cinema, which has outdoor seating complete with heaters and blankets to enjoy your meal while watching films on an outdoor screen. Be sure to try their famous burrata cheese appetizer!

If you're looking for more than just dinner and a movie, San Francisco has plenty of great spots for singles to meet other people who share their interests.

You can visit one of the many museums or galleries that are located throughout the city or go on one of its many walking tours. Even if you don't have time for anything else, there are always plenty of coffee shops and bookstores around where you can enjoy a cup of joe or read a book while sipping it!

The city by the bay offers many opportunities for singles to meet people and enjoy the outdoors. Whether you want to go hiking or see a show at Golden Gate Park, there are plenty of activities to choose from in this lively metropolis.

2. Chicago, Illinois

If you're single and looking to meet people, Chicago is a great city for you.

Chicago is a city that's famous for its sports teams, but there are plenty of other activities to love about it. Chicago is home to some of the largest employers in the country, including Boeing and United Airlines. The city also has an impressive population of young professionals and singles who are looking for a fun night out on the town.

Forbes magazine has named the city one of America's top 10 cities for singles. It's also been ranked among the top U.S. cities for singles because of its thriving arts scene and cultural events like Taste of Chicago and Lollapalooza music festival.

Chicago is also known for its architecture and public art, including Millennium Park's Cloud Gate sculpture and the Navy Pier Ferris wheel. It also has plenty of parks to explore and beaches along Lake Michigan.

If you're a single woman seeking for a guy who shares your interests, Chicago may be the place for you. According to a recent study by Match.com, men in Chicago are more likely than those in other cities to have similar interests as women, including travel, food, and fashion.

1. Los Angeles, California

The city of L.A. is a great place to be a single. Los Angeles is the second most populous city in the United States, and it's a popular place to live for singles. Its location on the Pacific coast offers beautiful weather and stunning views of the ocean.

Los Angeles is a great city for singles who love to be outdoors. The weather is pretty much perfect year-round. The city is the residence to some of the richest singles in the world, which means there are also some of the most eligible bachelors and bachelorettes around.

It's also residence to some of the best restaurants in America, as well as an abundance of entertainment options and cultural events.

There's no shortage of things to do in Los Angeles, whether you want to spend your time hiking through Griffith Park or heading downtown for a night on the town at one of its many live music venues.

If you're looking for something more low-key, take advantage of all that Southern California has to offer by visiting one of L.A.'s many beaches!

The only downside is that L.A. is also known for being one of the most expensive cities in the country, especially for singles who are looking to rent a home or apartment.

According to Zumper's National Rent Report for June, Los Angeles had the highest median rent in the U.S., with one-bedroom apartments going for $2,000 a month and two-bedroom apartments going for $2,600.
